Plot
Earth, 2010. Something strange happened almost two years ago, portals from other dimensions started to open up, disgorging or enveloping those unfortunate enough to be on the other side and caught in them, and then closing. Some blamed a government experiment gone awry, others the mutants and meta-humans that inhabit the planet. Those who had the misfortune to be pulled through to Earth don’t care who or what is to blame, they just want to find a way home, in most instances.
The governments of the planet are trying to deal with an influx of new people, aliens and creatures. Non sentient are rounded up and placed in special ‘zoos’, where they are studied. Sentients are also rounded up, where possible, and are put through tests, questioned and such. They’re then placed into special holding camps, nominally for their own protection and well being. In reality the various governments want access to their various skills and technology from those from worlds with far greater abilities than their own. A new arms race has begun and those from other dimensions are considered great prizes, the most wanted are those who have advanced, by Earth standards, technology. Those who have magic are also prized, although it is barely understood by most on Earth. What government would willingly give up any possible advantage over others?
As time goes by there have been escapes, and outsiders performing prison breaks, not liking that sentients are caged merely for the misfortune of being bought from their own world to theirs.
From these people come new heroes and villains and those just wanting to live ordinary lives and go home.
With this new influx of gifted beings, many ordinary humans are worried. Anti mutant, meta human, alien etc. feeling is running higher than ever. Certain politicians are fuelling the fears, hate crimes have shot up 100 fold against those who are ‘gifted’ or suspected of being alien. America has recently passed a bill requiring all those with powers, an X-Gene, or from another planet or dimension, on its soil to register. Certain heroes have backed this action, others have not leading to division amongst teams and friends. Those who pushed the most for the bill are still not happy. They are trying to force the President’s hand, to make it a criminal offence to not sign and to be locked away until you do agree to sign.
Sentinels for the last 3 months have been patrolling America, supposedly to detain those from other dimensions, since they have inbuilt sensors to locate the portals as soon as they open. What is not publicised and strongly denied as nothing more than a rumour, is the fact that they’re also picking up Earth born, those who have the X-gene or who are meta humans. These people find themselves placed into the camps with the aliens, tested and questioned, with no rights.

Earth is a mix of A.U Marvel and D.C Earths, with the exclusion of certain canons. If you want to have one of those in your history, then they were one of those who were sucked the other way when a portal appeared, like Charles Xavier.
We take canon and original characters based on almost all genres. The only ones that are not catered to are anime, or any non Marvel / DC based cartoon.
We have a list of banned canon, rather than a list of what we would like to see. We’re not omnipotent though, so please understand if on reading up on your canon we decline their inclusion. General rule of thumb for non Marvel / DC characters is that minor and recurring characters from TV, film and books are fine, whereas main ones are barred in most instances. Certain Marvel / DC canons are barred, or limited.
If you feel that your main canon should be exempted, and they are not on the barred list, please contact an admin with the reasons why.
